In conjunction with our talented friends at Smart Works, we joined the exhaustive pitch process to win the development of the Theatre Alive project for Arts Victoria.
The project was to carry across all the existing functionality, integrating popular web 2.0 trends, and ultimately elevate the site as the superior guide for Melbourne's independent theatre scene.
We then worked closely with Smartworks to design the information architechture, developing the front-end structure, and to integrate with Seamless CMS - Arts Victoria's chosen CMS framework. Functionality such as Google Map integration that encompassed several geographical locations within the vacinity of a venue were all driven via the CMS. A watchlist was also developed that acted as an online scrapbook for users to be able to store their favourite shows and then virally send then on via email to friends.
The layout is divided consistently into columns and uses a variety of designs to establish scale and visual hierarchy. Content within each column is constrained to a fixed width but the height is dictated by the content due to the variety of compositions required throughout the user experience.
The site is only in it's infancy so time will tell us more about the site performance but early feedback gives it a five star rating from all sectors of Melbourne's theatre scene. Watch this space!
